Happy Halloween - the best partner costumes for you and your dog

Halloween Kostüme Hundebesitzer

Once a year, there's plenty of creepy, fun and sugar - Halloween is just around the corner! On October 31st, it's finally time for "trick or treat", fiery pumpkin faces and eerily beautiful costumes. On the day before All Saints' Day, when the autumn night is at its blackest, all the brave children and adults parade through the streets to chase away evil spirits with fire and terror.

Halloween is based on a very old tradition. If one explores the origin of this holiday, one does not land directly, as expected, in America, but in green Ireland. Irish immigrants first brought the custom to the USA, cultivated and established it there. Over the years, the medieval tradition was commercialized, and the Americans especially relaxed the Halloween dress code. The trend quickly spread to Europe, of course, and before you knew it, people all over the world were walking the streets with sheets over their heads on October 31st. Even today, the coolest costumes, whether spooky or fancy, are still being displayed on Halloween, sweets are bagged in abundance and pumpkins are carved. At such an event, of course, our dearest four-legged friend should not be missing. Who else should protect us from ghosts, zombies and witches?

To make sure your dog fits in perfectly at the Halloween party, we at William Walker, have come up with the best Halloween partner costumes for you, your dog and the whole family.

1. welcome to Hogwarts

Witches, wizards, snakes and three-headed dogs are no rarity at Hogwarts. In the magical world of Harry Potter and Co. there are lots of cool props, exciting characters and fantastic animal creatures - perfect for imitation. Even the whole family can join in this Halloween costume. Bipeds can take on the roles of Harry, Ron, Hermione, Dumbledore, Bellatrix or Hagrid for a day, while the dog can imitate the scary three-headed dog Fluffy. This dog costume is a bit more expensive, but super easy to make at home. For this, you simply sew cuddly toy heads, which look especially similar to the four-legged friend, onto a sturdy dog harness. Cheap cuddly toy dogs are available at Ikea, for example. Afterwards you pull a dog body or a T-shirt in the fur color of your own dog over the construction and cut holes for the additional heads. The enchanting partner, group or family costume is ready.

2. cellmates

With little effort and costs, the convict costume for man and dog can be realized quickly and easily. Just put it into the striped clothes, maybe apply some artificial blood here and there and sew on or glue the prisoner number. As a highlight, the hardware store offers large and small steel chains that can be converted into a leash. This way it looks as if the cell comrades were cruelly chained together. You can use red nail polish for an extra portion of bloodstains on the chains without your four-legged friend coming into contact with paint. This cool partner costume can also be easily extended by additional inmates for family or group outfits.

3. Der Winter kommt

Besides rolling heads (R.I.P. Ned Stark), zombie-like white-walkers and lots of bloody fights, the Game of Thrones series features great characters and role models for really fancy Halloween costumes. Daenerys Targaryen has three dangerous and beautiful dragons. With this Halloween look, you can integrate up to three dogs - so that nobody has to stay at home. Deanerys goes through several phases in the series. From the exotic beauty in light chiffon dresses, to the wild Amazon in leather gear, to the Nordic noble queen in thick winter coats. Daenerys long platinum blond mane can be wonderfully imitated with white hair chalk, paint spray or a wig. When dressing up for the dogs, the typical dragon tines on the back are not to be missed. These can easily be made by yourself and can then be sewn onto a dog shirt - but there are also ready-made dragon costumes for four-legged friends on the Internet. The pirate costume can be extended to several persons. For men there is for example the strong Khal Drogo or curly head Jon Snow.

4. king of the lions

With the beautiful and yet so sad story of Simba and his family, hardly an eye remains dry. In addition to the emotional storyline in The Lion King, the animal characters are particularly convincing with their charm, wit and gentleness. In the real world, however, lions are much less petable and give you goose bumps with their loud roar. They are imposing, wild and also quite scary animals, which makes them perfect for chasing away evil spirits on Halloween night. The funny duo Nala and Simba, as well as the loving father and son combination, are suitable as partner costumes. The King of the Lions disguise can be extended with different figures. For the four-legged friend there are collars with a fuzzy lion's mane to buy on the Internet. For the two-legged friend the choice is even bigger - besides lion tails to hang on and hair bands with fur ears there are whole one-piece suits in wild cat look on the web.

The most important thing when dressing up is fun. So that your dog can also enjoy the Halloween party, the dog costumes should always be light and comfortable. For the sake of your dearest companions, do not use color sprays or exaggerated disguises that would hinder them in their dog existence. Some dogs really want to be the center of attention and don't mind two additional heads - but others don't like it at all. Try out the costumes and see how your dog reacts to them. After all, the well-being of our dogs should always come first.

With these cool partner costumes for you and your dog, you are guaranteed to be a highlight on the streets or at the party on Halloween. If you realize one of our costume ideas, make sure to mark us in your story or send us a snapshot. We are excited and look forward to eerily beautiful photos.
